László Korbuly hails from a family of engineers who held important positions at the Weiss Manfred factories in Csepel, near Budapest. Judit Korbuly is a pianist who was born and raised in Budapest. After experiencing first-hand the revolution of 1956, they both left Hungary and met at Bard College in New York. They had both been processed through Camp Kilmer in New Jersey and were selected as a part of a group of several hundred Hungarian refugees who were university educated and able to receive scholarships within the US.
