Tamás Fellner

Interview by Andrea Lauer Rice & Réka Pigniczky

Tamás Fellner hails from the well-known Fellner family that owned the Leipziger Szesz és Cukorgyár (Leipziger alcohol and sugar company) in Hungary. His family, one of the richest families in pre-war Hungary, was stripped of it's wealth and holdings after the communist government took over after WWII and his family was declared 'class enemies.' Because his uncle, the famous UC Berkeley economist William Fellner, was already in the U.S., the family was able to emigrate to the U.S., and settled in Piedmont, CA. The four Fellner boys were educated in the U.S. and went on to form their own companies or work in the business sector.

Interview conducted by Réka Pigniczky in Orinda, California in June of 2015.
